Fr. Paul’s Blog – 9.22.19

Welcome!
This Sunday begins a new year of “God Talks” for our Youth Ministry. God Talks are youth conversations about the joys and challenges experienced by our young people in the context of their daily life, seen through the lens of faith. Facilitating these conversations are our Youth Ministry team members: Autumn and Mike Mrezcko, and Elyse Granda. If your child or grandchild is in junior high or high school, be sure to invite them to participate in God Talks and our many other Youth Ministry programs and events this school year.
Also this Sunday, after our 10 am service, we begin “Formed and Informed by Faith”, a special Adult Christian Education Forum Series that will address current issues from the perspective of the Episcopal faith. I will be facilitating today’s forum, which is titled, “The Church and Public Policy.” If you are going to join us, please feel free to stop by the parish hall for some coffee hour refreshments and then head on over to the Guild Room for the program.
Finally, on Saturday, October 5th at 6:30 pm, we will host the screening of “So Flo Floods,” a special Bahamas hurricane relief fund-raising event. This film conveys how sea level rise and climate change are affecting south Florida, past, present, and future. “So Flo Floods” was created for next to no budget by passionate people on a mission. It was filmed entirely in south Florida and it features much reflection on the infamous and tragic 1928 Hurricane – which devastated our church building, our area and Okeechobee. The movie event will include a Q and A session with Steve Richards, the producer, and we will have several items on display from the Delray Beach Historical Society’s archive regarding how our area was changed by this hurricane.

Blessings in Christ,
Fr. Paul+
