Fr. Paul’s Blog – 9.15.19

Welcome!

As I write this letter, the search and rescue effort in the Bahamas continues, as does the effort to provide life-saving and life-sustaining assistance to the people who suffered the catastrophic devastation of Hurricane Dorian. I am humbled by the incredible generosity of our congregation in responding to what has become a grave humanitarian crisis in the Bahamas. Last weekend, we collected $8,250 for the Bishop’s Bahamas Appeal, providing critically needed funding support to assist Bishop Boyd and the Anglican Church of the Bahamas and Turks & Caicos Islands to respond to those most in need. Thank you for your compassion and generosity!
As the relief effort continues in the Bahamas, we are partnering with Episcopal Charities of Southeast Florida (ecsefl.org) and the United Way of Palm Beach County to do what we can to help. Many of you asked last weekend about donating supplies. I’m happy to say that the United Way is collecting desperately needed supplies and shipping them to the Bahamas. To see the list of supplies needed, locations to drop off donations, and opportunities to volunteer, please go to their website: unitedwaypbc.org.
This past Wednesday, I was able to join clergy and laity from throughout south Palm Beach County for Habitat for Humanity’s first annual Interfaith Patriot Day of Service honoring the victims of the World Trade Center in New York City, the Pentagon in Washington, D.C and United Airlines flight 93 in Pennsylvania on September 11, 2001. It was a powerful day of interfaith prayer and service, reminding all of us that love is stronger than hate!

Blessings in Christ,
