Wow, we had an incredible Vacation Bible School (VBS) week here at St. Paul’s. At our Sunday 10 am service, we welcome our children, families, and many dedicated volunteers of VBS 2019. Our theme this year was “Camping in God’s Garden.” We learned that when God created everything God “proclaimed that it was good!” Discovering God in the wonder of creation is a gift of faith given to us by the Holy Spirit.
We rejoice in the gift of the Holy Spirit today as we celebrate Pentecost. When Jesus ascended to the eternal glory of heaven, he did not abandon us. Rather, he fulfilled his promise to send the Advocate, the Spirit of God, who dwells within us. The gift of the Holy Spirit transformed the Apostles and other early disciples and inspired them to proclaim the Good News of the Risen Jesus. That same Holy Spirit continues to fill our hearts, transforming us into faithful disciples of Jesus.
