Fr. Paul’s Blog – 12.15.19

Welcome!
We continue our Advent journey this weekend as we celebrate “Gaudete Sunday,” the Third Sunday of Advent, during which the rose-colored candle on the wreath is lit. Gaudete is Latin for “rejoice.” With Christmas so close, the Church invites us to share the joy of the shepherds, the Magi, and all of those in the biblical narrative who are journeying to see the Christ Child, the newborn King. Faith is often described as a journey, and Advent is certainly a sacred part of our journey of faith.
If faith is a journey, then discipleship is the path. This Sunday, after our 8 am and 10 am services, we will host our second 2020 stewardship bible study and small group discussion. This Sunday’s gathering is titled “Discipleship is the Path,” and it will take place in the parish hall. Our stewardship theme is “Live a God-Pleasing Life”. Through the months of December and January, we will learn about the basis of Christian stewardship and its application in our lives. As we spend time in God’s Word during our Sunday worship and bible studies, we will better understand how God wants us to use our lives and resources for His purposes.
Finally, I want to say a special word of thanks to our Women’s Fellowship ministry which hosted a wonderful holiday dinner this past Monday night. The delicious food, great entertainment, and warm hospitality made it a terrific evening to rejoice in the many blessings God has given us!

In Christ, our Hope,
Fr. Paul+
