Fr. Paul’s Blog – 11.10.19

Welcome!

As we prepare to celebrate Veterans Day this Monday, we will pray for and honor, in a special way, our veterans this weekend at St. Paul’s. We are always mindful of, and grateful for, the great sacrifices made by the men and women who have served our country in the armed forces. As we honor those who have served our country in the past, we also pray for those who are currently serving, asking God’s shield of protection as they work to build peace at home and abroad.
At our recent Diocesan Convention, we inaugurated a year-long celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Diocese of Southeast Florida. Between now and our 2020 Diocesan Convention, we will honor the good work done by those who went before us in planting the seeds of faith, hope, and love here in this corner of God’s kingdom. We will also recommit ourselves to share in that divine call to “go and make disciples of all nations…” [Matthew 28:19] Today, as part of our ongoing commitment to proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ as faithful Episcopalians in the Diocese of Southeast Florida, we are introducing a prayer that we will pray throughout this 50th Anniversary year:
“Faithful and eternal God, whose Son Jesus Christ is the brightness of your glory, the one foundation and the chief cornerstone of the Church: we give you thanks for the gift of your Church, and especially for this community of faith in our region of Southeast Florida as we celebrate our 50th anniversary. Continue to prosper, we pray, the work of your people, begun, continued, and ended in you, that as we seek to become the beloved community, so may we always show forth your glory in the love we share, through him who first loved us, Jesus Christ our Lord; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, One God, now and for ever. Amen.”

Blessings in Christ,
