Fr. Paul 9/16

This Sunday we begin our new Church School year! For our Pre-K to 5th
Grade children, our program will be based on the Hearts Alive curriculum. This
curriculum, rooted firmly in the Episcopal branch of the Jesus Movement, follows
our church seasonal calendar and, in particular, our Sunday worship readings.
With lots of great take home material, this program supports the “domestic
church,” that is, families sharing together in the richness of God’s Word as understood
through the lens of our Episcopal faith.
As our Pre-K and elementary-aged school children gather in the Parish Hall,
our junior high and high school youth will gather for a God Talk in the second floor
youth room. These engaging conversations on faith and life draw our youth closer
to Christ and each other. We ask God’s blessing on our children, youth, families,
and dedicated volunteers as we begin another great year of growing in the love of
Jesus.
This Sunday, after the 10 am service, we also begin a three-week forum series
on Jerusalem, the city that has been called the “spiritual capital of the world.”
It is a city with great significance for the three faith traditions born from the covenant
made between God and Abraham and Sarah. I’m grateful for the blessing of
Dr. Sandy Norman and Dr. Patty Kollander, who will be joining me as facilitators
of this series. For more details about the series, check out the Acts of St. Paul section
of today’s bulletin.
In Christ,
Fr. Paul+
