Fr. Paul’s Blog – 8.4.19

Welcome to summer at St. Paul’s!
Believe it or not, our Day School and Paul’s Place afterschool program begin the new school year a week from Monday, on August 12th! Our Children, Youth, and Family Ministry is busy preparing for lots of fun back-to-school events to kick off the new school year. This will include “Backpack Weekend” next Saturday and Sunday (August 10 & 11), when our children, their backpacks, and of course, our teachers, will receive a special blessing. See the Children, Youth, and Family Ministry section of today’s bulletin for the full schedule of events to start School Year 2019-20.
Our parish office will be closed this Wednesday, August 7th, as our Church, Day School, and Paul’s Place staff will be on retreat. This annual day of reflection and fellowship gives us an opportunity to spend time together with the Lord as we prepare for a new program year. We are blessed with so many gifted and caring staff members here at St. Paul’s. I ask your prayers as we take this sacred time for spiritual renewal.
Finally, I ask your prayers for Judy Fenney, her children, grandchildren, and entire family. We were all shocked and saddened this past Monday when Judy’s husband Nick died suddenly. Nick was instrumental in helping to establish the Delray Beach Interfaith Social Services Committee, a consortium of local congregations who have come together with the common purpose of helping the poor in our community. Nick’s passion for community service, lived out with great humility and a self-deprecating sense of humor, made our parish and our “Village by the Sea” a better place. May he rest in peace and rise in glory.

Blessings in Christ, our Hope,
Fr. Paul+
