Fr. Paul’s Blog – 6.23.19

Welcome!
Whether you are a member, a regular attendee, or a first-time visitor, we are blessed to have you with us.
Summer is here! For many, “summer” begins the minute the school year ends. For others, summer begins when the temperature first reaches 90 degrees. Or, if you’re like me, summer begins when the first ripe mangoes are picked and eaten! But the calendar tells us that summer began June 21st.
For many people, summer brings a slower pace. For us in South Florida, some of the blessings of summer include the aforementioned mangoes (yummy); less traffic; less crowded restaurants, museums, and golf courses; more time to enjoy reading; and more opportunities to spend vacation time with family and friends, just to name a few.
This summer at St. Paul’s, we will be particularly blessed with a journey that begins this Sunday. I’m referring to the Sunday forum series on “The Universal Christ,” the latest book by Franciscan priest and mystic Richard Rohr. Deacon Helen Trainor and Lorna Scott will be facilitating this journey for the next eight Sundays after the 10 am service. I encourage you to join us, and if you can’t, I’d encourage you to make “The Universal Christ” part of your summer reading list.
In addition to this great Sunday forum series, we’ll have a couple of great summer family fun days. The first is next Sunday, when we’ll head down to Marlins Park to watch the Marlins play the Phillies (you have until Monday, June 24 to sign up). The second will be Saturday, August 3, at the newly renovated (and air-conditioned) Norton Museum of Art. Summer is definitely here!

Blessings,
Fr. Paul+
