Fr. Paul’s Blog 5.3.18

This Sunday at our 10 am service we will celebrate Daughters of the King Sunday. We will welcome Mrs. Joy James Williams, Diocesan President of the Daughters of the King, and our chalice bearers, readers, and some of our ushers for the service will be Daughters from our chapter here at St. Paul’s.
The vision of the Order of the Daughters of the King is beautiful: “empowered by the Holy Spirit, our vision as Daughters of the King is to know Jesus Christ, to make Him known to others, and to become reflections of God’s love throughout the world.” Barbara Filipowski, our chapter president, and Joy Williams invite you to learn more about the Daughters at a gathering in Bush Hall after our 10 am service.
For those who do not plan to attend the Daughters informational gathering after the 10 am service, I encourage you to head out to the Children’s Garden (located adjacent to our overflow parking lot on SW 1st Avenue) where our own Jeannie Fernsworth will be facilitating “Praying with Nature,” our final Sunday Christian Education Forum on personal prayer.
Next weekend, Mother’s Day weekend, we will honor and bless all of our high school and college graduates at our 10 am service. We will also celebrate all those who have nurtured us with a mother’s love. Our Brotherhood of St. Andrew will host our Annual Mother’s Day Brunch after the 8 and 10 am services. All are invited and we ask you to please sign up on the sheet in the courtyard so that the Brotherhood can plan appropriately.
Finally, Irene, my family and I want to thank everyone for the many messages and expressions of love we have received as we grieve the death of my mother. Your kindness and compassion have been a great source of comfort to us!
