Fr. Paul’s Blog 5.24.18

How would you define God in one word? As Christians, we would say, “God is love.” So, love is a relationship, not a thing. Aha! God, then, is the relationship of love wherever it is found. So, the Trinity lives in all of us insofar as we love. Trinity is not some irrelevant, impossible-to-understand doctrine. Trinity remains the source, expression, and inspiration of deep genuine love.

The Most Rev. Michael Curry, our Presiding Bishop, recently dubbed a “Frock Star” for his inspirational sermon at the royal wedding, preached about the power of love. His sermon invited Prince Harry, Meghan, and all of us who heard it, to dream of a world that is energized and sustained by love. Treating other people the way we would like to be treated ourselves is to unleash the power of the Trinity, the relationship of love.

In addition to this being Trinity Sunday on the Church calendar, it is also Memorial Day weekend. In a special way, we, as a nation, pray for and honor our servicemen and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for love of country. For the many liberties we are blessed with as citizens of the United States, we are grateful beyond words.

Finally, as we bid a seasonal farewell to our “northern lights,” I’m happy to say that with our newly installed audio/visual equipment we are now live streaming our 10 am service. So, wherever your summer vacation plans may take you, I encourage you to stay plugged in to the inspirational preaching of St. Paul’s through the internet!
