Fr. Paul’s Blog 3.10.19

Welcome!
May the grace and peace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you now and forever. Whether you are a member, a regular attendee, or a first-time visitor, we are blessed to have you with us.
This weekend we celebrate the First Sunday of Lent. We entered the season of Lent this past week, on Ash Wednesday. The forty days of Lent are God’s annual invitation to re-evaluate our Baptismal Covenant and prayerfully discern in what ways, with God’s grace, we are being called to change our lives so as to live more faithfully to that Covenant.
At the opening of our Icons in Transformation exhibit, Ludmilla Pawlowska, the artist, noted that while the installation has brought a physical transformation to our church campus, the real invitation of the exhibit is to allow God to transform our hearts. As followers of Jesus, we are constantly in the process of being transformed into the very likeness of Christ. The season of Lent reminds us that the journey of discipleship is never a static one, but rather, it is a dynamic, life-giving one that always invites us to reject sin, embrace the joy of the gospel, and follow Jesus more closely.
Inside today’s bulletin you will see an overview of the many worship services and programs we are offering during Lent. I hope that you find them helpful as you discern your own life’s journey. This Lent, I invite you to pray the Baptismal Covenant daily (page 304 in the Book of Common Prayer). I encourage you to meditate upon this sacred Covenant and allow God’s grace to draw you ever-closer to Jesus Christ during these 40 days!
In Christ,
Fr. Paul+
