The Vestry appointed a Safety and Security Task Force at the February Vestry meeting which includes: Lorraine Sciara -Kelley, John Putnam, Dan Murtaugh, George Daniell, Jim Garner and Rev. Kathleen Gannon. The Task Force now also incudes, Liz Ryan, Day School Director, Kathy Fazio, Paul’s Place Director, Caren Kilpatrick, Parish Administrator and the Rector, Rev. Paul Kane.
Just the week before the Parkland tragedy brought the issues of security so close to home, members of the Vestry and Staff attended the first presentation by the Delray Beach Police Department on Active Shooter Training. Our Task Force was already at work before the Vestry meeting established the group, and, arranged for the Delray Police to work with us in establishing a plan for the campus. We have since toured the property with the Delray Police and the plan is actively in process. There are many safety measures already in place, particularly for our children in our Day School and After School programs. There is more to be done to ensure the safety of our congregation when we gather on Sundays and throughout the week. This Task Force is working hard and is committed to keeping the congregation informed and updated… we all have a role in safety and security. If you have questions or suggestions, please email Rev.
