Fr. Paul’s Blog 3.16.18

On March 9th the Episcopal House of Bishops concluded its retreat meeting at Camp Allen in Navasota, TX and published two statements: one on gun violence and the other on sexual harassment and gender bias. I’m happy to say that the Episcopal House of Bishops is not a newcomer to the public square when it comes to these two important issues. I encourage you to read the full statements online at: epicopalchurch.org in the “From Public Affairs” section. Prayerfully consider how God may be calling you to put your faith into action. As we journey ever closer to Holy Week and Easter, I encourage you to invite your family members, friends, neighbors and co-workers who may be seeking holiday worship opportunities to join you here at St. Paul’s. Inside today’s bulletin is an insert with a full, detailed list of our Holy Week and Easter worship. This year, for the first time in quite a while, we are celebrating a Tenebrae service on Tuesday evening of Holy Week. We are also extending our Good Friday liturgy to include the Service of the Seven Last Words of Christ and Stations of the Cross in church. At our Sunday 10 am service, we will bless and send the members of our Youth and Family Ministry mission team who, from March 22 -25, will be helping with the on-going hurricane recovery effort in Marathon. One great way to join in this effort is through donating $25 Publix gift cards for the 18 families our mission team will be helping. Please keep the team, and those they will serve, in your prayers. Finally, I want to invite you to our Music at St. Paul’s concert on Sunday afternoon. There will be a pre-concert lecture at 2:30, followed by the concert at 3:00, and concluding with a gala dessert reception to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of this wonderful chamber music series.
